The NHS Trusts in Cornwall have Flexible Working policies, which apply to all NHS employees. There is also a statutory right to request flexible working and a duty on employers to seriously consider this request.
This has applied to staff with children aged 16 or under, or 18 or under if the child receives Disability Living Allowance, or for those caring for an adult since April 2009.
What is flexible working? Anything that will help you to balance your work and home life that is different to the way you are currently working it can can mean altering the hours or times you work or your place of work.
How do I request flexible working? You should make a written request stating how you wish to work – you will probably have discussed this already with your manager, colleagues and Human Resources Team. Certain information must be included in the request such as the hours and/or times you wish to work and your place of work .
