Childcare Support
Parents who work as part of a team that delivers care 24-hours a day can find it a real challenge to juggle family and work responsibilities.
The NHS in Cornwall has a Childcare Co-ordination Team that provides practical solutions for staff with families, to enable them to strike a better work / life balance and improve their working lives.
Their main objective is to support working parents within the NHS to get good quality, affordable and accessible childcare
The team can also act as an advocate, advisor and source of information for NHS staff, and offers advice on a range of issues, from Tax Credits and the use of childcare vouchers, to flexible working, maternity, adoption and paternity rights
The Childcare Co-ordination Team has set up and facilitates various initiatives, such as:
• childcare vouchers
• summer holiday activities for 4-16 year old
• discounts for staff at various tourist attractions across Cornwall
• babysitting contact service
• supporting in securing childcare options
• a co-ordinated approach to managing maternity, adoption and paternity leave for staff

The team plans to extend the service to support those with caring responsibilities for other dependants.
